The Mask of Atonement: Tulsa's False Promise of Reparations
Time & Location
About this Event
In the days immediately following the Tulsa Race Masacre of 1921, the National media narrative of Tulsa was one of hope and rebuilding. $500,000 was promised to go towards reconstucting the devastated Greenwood area. That money never came.
Join historian and researchers Randy Hopkins and Chief Egunwale Amusan as they discuss the failed effort to fund the rebuilding of Greenwood, and how white Tulsa leaders put themselves in a position to be praised for their generosity in the press, while failing to support victims in the aftermath of the massacre.
